Protection by Angels
Rev. Elbert Willis

Total acceptance in total faith and total obedience brings total protection.  Partial acceptance, partial faith and partial obedience brings partial protection.  A little acceptance, a little faith, and a little obedience brings a little protection.  It takes total acceptance for total faith to operate, so you will be able to totally obey, and get the total benefits of divine protection.

As we move on into the last days and the Holy Spirit begins to reveal truths of the Word of God and bless people as He never has before, there is going to be a mightier attack by the enemy.  As the unfolding of the Word of God is coming forth, the power of the devil is going to be released in a greater way.  Satan desires to hinder God’s people, and take them off the scene.

He will try to cripple you spiritually, physically, mentally and financially to keep you from trusting God.  In this study we will deal with the physical.  You must learn how to exercise faith for total protection.  This is of particular interest to overcomers.  If you have purposed in your heart that you are going to be an overcomer and are willing to pay the price, you are going to have to believe that God’s angels will camp round about you and protect you from all evil.  I have always known about divine protection and believed it, but have learned more about it since I began flying an airplane.  When you run into a fog and do not know where you are going, cannot see past the windshield at 140 or 150 miles per hour, and do not know if the other planes are one foot or a million feet away, you have to learn to trust Jesus.

God’s angels will protect you from harm.  The only thing the world can offer is to help after you get into trouble.  Insurance can only help after you get into trouble.  It cannot protect you from anything.  This is important if you are going to move with the Lord, because the enemy will try to tear up your business, kill your family, and ruin your health.  He hates even the thought of you, because you are a child of God.

Brother Willis, are you trying to frighten me? No.  I am just trying to get you to be sober minded about divine protection.

Chapter I
Conditions for Protection

Protection does not come automatically.  There are conditions that must be met.

             1.  The first condition is found in Psalms 91:1, He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  It says, He that dwells.  That does not mean that you run in and out.  The word dwell means settled, remain, abide, stay.  Where?  Under the secret place of the Most High.

Many Christians have troubles and problems because they do not dwell there.  They are confessing the scriptures but are running in and out.  Partial obedience, partial faith, partial trust only brings partial protection.  The condition is he that dwells in the secret place.

The secret place is that relationship with Jesus where you know the reality of His Word.  It is where you know that the angels of the Lord encamp round about you.  It is not just something you say with your mouth and think with your mind, but getting hold of the Word of God and knowing that God’s Word is true and that His angels are real and that they do camp round about you and yours.  That is the secret place.

The words shall abide mean continuous abiding.  He that is settled and lodged in that relationship with the Word of God and continually stays under the shadow is abiding.  Shadow

implies nearness.  The condition is that you must dwell in the secret place and abide there.  You cannot dwell there, and trust man.  You cannot run out and pay your Blue-cross.  That is not dwelling.  If you want his angels to protect you from all that is coming on this world, you must make a decision, it is your choice.  If you want protection, you have to meet the condition.

You cannot stand a hundred miles from Him and say, I am under His shadow.Shadow  implies nearness.  It implies more when the sun is at about twelve o’clock.  There is not much of a shadow then.  You must be standing right up next to Him to be in His shadow.

All the promises of God are yea and Amen.  They are yours but you have to meet the condition.  You have to be willing to pay the price.  If you do not meet the condition, you do not get the promise.  Everything is that way.  If you do not meet the condition of calling upon the name of the Lord, you cannot get saved.  If you do not meet the condition of opening your mouth and refusing to speak in English, you cannot speak in tongues.  If you do not meet the condition of dying or being raptured, you cannot go to heaven.  God has already said yes to divine protection, but the conditions have to be met.

             2.  Psalms 91:4 is another condition.  It says, under His wings shalt thou trust. It is not under man’s wings, but God’s.  Whose wings are you trusting in?  Who are you trusting for your protection?

The young bird always runs to his mother in danger.  Who do you run to in danger? When tough times come, some of you say, Thank God, I had my Blue-cross. Thank God I had fire insurance on my house. Thank God I had my policy paid up.

You will always go to the one who can help you the most.  For protection, you are using whatever you think will do you the most good.  When you need money, you will always go to the one who will do you the most good.  Banker-Jesus or Banker-Man?  You always go to the one you have the most trust in.  The reason why a lot of people do not go to God for protection is because they do not believe he will help them.

Divine Protection is not a natural truth and will not line up with man’s reasoning.  The world and religion will not approve, they do not believe the Word of God.  They say it does not make sense and will not work.  It won’t work for them, it only works for those who believe it.

If you have made up your mind that you are going to walk with God, are willing to pay the price, to stay close, and not let the devil, sin, and sickness get you out from under His wings, then you can trust the Word.  But, if you have not really made up your mind, you better hold on to what the world offers.  The devil will persuade you sooner or later.

             3.  Hast made the Lord…thy habitation, Psalms 91:9.

Are you living in him and with him?  Or have you made someone else your partner?  You do not need but one partner, and that is Jesus Christ.  All you need is God.  The complete verse reads, Because thou hast made the Lord, which is thy refuge, even the most High, thy habitation.

You have to make Him your habitation.  That means you have to be living in Him, walking with Him and serving Him.

             4.  Verse 14 says, Hath set His love upon me.

Another condition is that you have to set your love upon Him.  If you set your love upon Him, you can trust him.  But if you have your love somewhere else, then you cannot really trust Him.  It must be on Him alone.  It must be unmixed, you must be totally trusting Him.  This is what God is looking for today.  He is not looking for people who will partly trust Him.  He has churches filled with that kind.  They trust in God and man.  God said we are to love Him with all our heart, all our soul and all our mind.  If you love Him with all your heart, soul, and mind, then you will trust Him with all your heart, soul, and mind.

If you buy an insurance policy and pay ten dollars, you can get a thousand.  If you pay twenty you can get ten thousand:  thirty you can get thirty thousand forty you can get forty thousand.  However much protection you want, is how much you pay.  However much protection you want from God, is what you are willing to pay.  You pay for it by meeting the conditions.  If you want more insurance protection, pay more money and you can have more.  As you raise your trust in God, you will have more protection.  It is the same as insurance.  It just depends if you are trying to get by with one thousand or one hundred thousand.

             5.  Hath known my name.  Psalms 91:14.

Knowing the Name of Jesus breaks the devil’s hold on everything.  This is one condition, that we know His name.  We need to know that there is authority and power in His name.  Luke 10:19 says, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.  He has given us authority and power over all the power of the enemy.  We have the authority and power to tread upon the devil and his demons.  Jesus has given us this right.  He has already defeated the devil.  We are the sons of God, we are the heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ.

Why are more people not being won to the Lord today?  Most Christians live just like the heathen do, they all get in the same line, and trust in the same things.

You say, Jesus is the way, and then act the same way and trust in the same things that the heathen does. But, Brother Willis, he will think I am a nut if I go to God.

That is right.  He sure will.  But, after a while, if you continue in the Word, he will start investigating.  If he is paying a hundred dollars a month, and you are standing on the Word, his natural common sense will start to do some figuring.

You pay your premiums by getting in the Word.  The premium has to be paid for the coverage.  No premium, no coverage.  You can pay man’s premiums and have man’s protection or you can pay God’s premium and have God’s protection.

             6.  Call upon me.  Psalms 91:15.

You cannot find anywhere in the Bible where God told you to go to anybody else but Him.  If you trust in man you will die sick, that is a fact.  While trusting in Jesus, you may die, but you will die well.  That is a big difference.  He said, Call upon me, not man and his substitutes.

Look for the best deal God has, and be willing to pay the price.  When you go to a steak house, the prices range from one dollar to five dollars.  If you want the best one, you pay the price.  If you want God’s best protection, you pay the price.  If you pay a little price, you will get a little.  If you pay a medium price, you will get medium protection.  If you go all the way and pay the full price, you will receive full protection.

If you are struggling with divine protection, it may be because you have not made a decision.  Make a decision, and then there will be no more struggle.  Decide that you are willing to meet the six conditions set forth in Psalms 91 dwell in the Lord, trust only Him, make Him your habitation, set your love on Him, know His name and call upon Him.

Chapter II
Confession for Protection

Psalms 91:2 I will say

There is a confession.  Psalms 91:2 says, I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.  Here is the confession you must make for protection.  It does not say, I will think, or I hope.

You have to say where you stand.  You have to let people know.  You can not receive His blessings and not let anybody know where you stand.

             1.  I will say God is my refuge.  He is my escape from danger, I retreat from danger to Him.  When danger comes, God is my refuge.  I retreat in Him, I get under His shadow.  He just drops His wings over me.

            2.  He is my fortress.  He is my stronghold.  He is my tower of defense.  When problems and circumstances come my way, God is my refuge, and my fortress.

            3.  He is my God all the time and in all situations.  I do not have any of man’s gods.  God is my God.

            4.  In Him will I trust.  In the Hebrew it says, In Him alone will I trust.  You are going to have to come to the place where you say, God alone is my fortress.  God alone is my God.  In God alone do I trust.  Can you say, In God alone do I trust?  Or do you have to say, I have this just in case.

You are trusting in Him alone for heaven, why not trust in Him alone for everything else?  If He is powerful and mighty enough to take care of everything else.  Trust Him!

It is a confession of protection that will say, God alone is my refuge and my fortress.

It will bring fire.  Try telling your boss that you do not need insurance anymore.  He will say,
Why?
And you answer, God is taking care of me.  Do you want to pay the price?

Try going home and telling your wife that you are canceling your insurance.  Do you think that would stir things up?  It will stir up a war.  I have already been through it, and it is not a problem anymore.  But, when I started on this road, I had a war.  I had a free hospitalization policy and free life insurance.  I had a security policy and retirement that was paid for me.  It would have given me a tremendous retirement benefit.  It was all paid for by the Southern Baptist Convention.  And I said, In God alone will I trust. The devil said, Look how God has blessed you, He has provided all this for you free.

I fell for that for about two or three months, then had to write to those people and tell them that I did not want their benefits.  I said, God is my refuge.  God is my fortress.  He is my God and in Him alone do I trust.  Boy, I stirred up some things.

I confess this every day, God, in you alone do I trust.  I do not have anybody else.  It is just me and You.  You had better work, if you cannot do it, I have nothing.

I know that it works.  For seven years now, it has worked for us.  I have seen some things happen, but the Word was still true.  When I first stepped out on this we had a 1969 Ford.  I stepped out and said, In God alone will I trust.  He is going to take care of me.  About six weeks later, I was driving home from Beaumont, Texas on a Sunday morning after I had spoken at a Full Gospel Businessmen’s meeting.  It was raining and all at once my car turned sideways and I knew in my spirit that the devil had turned my car.  I said, In the Name of Jesus.

The car whipped around, hit a bridge, got up on the edge of the bridge and stood there balancing.  I just sat there saying, Thank You, Jesus.  I was praising the Lord when a guy came running along.  I was in the car speaking in tongues and praising the Lord.  I pushed the door open and looked down and there was about a forty foot drop.  I eased out through that door and just kept praising God.

The devil said, I thought you said no evil would befall you.

No evil has befallen me. That is evil. It may look it to you, but the Bible says that no evil shall befall me.

I just kept confessing the Word.  It got rough, I did not even know then how I was going to get the hundred dollars deductible for the insurance.  At the same time, I was believing for financial prosperity.  About a month later, a man came through and God told me to give him a hundred dollars.            I said,  God, I do not have that kind of money.

How about that insurance money? Yes, but that is for my car.
You said you would do what I told you to do.

Okay, Lord.  And I gave him a hundred dollars.  There was about fifteen hundred dollars damage done on my car.  I had about fifteen hundred dollars from my insurance company and I was going to put up a hundred dollars.  Somebody else came a few weeks later and said,
Give him a hundred dollars.  Before I knew it I had given away four or five hundred dollars.

I was taking a shower one night and the devil was bombarding me saying, Here you are preaching prosperity, and every time the telephone rings you think they are calling you to pick up your car.  What are you going to do?   I was preaching protection and had wrecked my car.  I kept on preaching with my car in the shop.  I told the devil, I will give a hundred dollars away every week until I get my car.  If I do not have the money to get it, I will take it and sell it, pay the bill off, and will believe God to get me a new one.

The next Friday came along and I gave another hundred.  I said, I will give all that money away.  Then I will take the car and sell it.  Then I know I will have enough to pay those people who worked on my car.  I will not have a car, but I will get me another one.  Jesus is my Savior.  He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings, and He said no evil shall befall me.

About two weeks later a man came to our Baptist church on a Wednesday night.  He said,
God just impressed me to take up an offering for you.  And at a Baptist church you just do not take up offerings on a Wednesday night service.

So I said, Brother, are you sure?  I figured if we got a hundred dollars that night we would be doing good.  He took the offering, and it was five hundred and something dollars.  They called me to get my car the next day.

I was still saying, In God alone do I trust, God is my refuge, and my fortress.  He flip-flopped my situation around and made it good for us because I held on.

Another time I bought a 1977 Cadillac.  I drove from the Cadillac place to the house and it got totaled.

What did you say, Brother Willis?

I said, God alone is my fortress.  God alone is my refuge.  In God alone do I trust.  No evil shall befall me.

When I was walking out the situation with my 1969 Ford, I had it working for me partially but I did not have it working completely because I was still trying.  The devil will slip in under you if you do not stay in the Word and stay close to God.  That is what happened with my Cadillac.  He slipped in there and totaled it.  It happened in the main street in town.  I ran across the road into the ditch and totaled a 1977 Cadillac.  I was down there praising the Lord and rejoicing.

A man that was there on the scene said, Man, if it would have been an old Ford or Chevrolet, I could understand.  That is a new Cadillac.  What are you going to do?

I said, Praise God.  There is nothing else I can do.  The same God that got me that one will get me another one.

Just imagine this.  A brand new car with no insurance on it. The man confronted me with, How much insurance do you have on it. I said, I have assurance.

The natural man does not comprehend the assurance of God.

Chapter III
Evils from which God Delivers

This is important.  God will deliver you from evil.  But not while you are trying to get to the place where you can abide and dwell in Him.  Sometimes when you are trying to get there, the enemy will box your jaws.  This is what I would advise you to do.  First read this book, then decide to make a step.  Do not make the step until you have sufficient scriptures.  Get the Word settled down inside of you, have something to stand on, there are a lot of scriptures in the Word.  You can take Psalms 91 and have plenty to stand on, but there are more.

Here are some evils God delivers His people from:

             1.  Psalms 91:3 says He delivers you from the snare of the fowler.  The snare of the fowler means Satan, his hungers and his hidden baits as in I Timothy 4:1-3.  This passage of scripture describes how it will be in the latter days.  It says that there will be deceiving spirits and doctrines of devils or demons.

Do you know who teaches the doctrines of devils and the doctrines of demons?  People do.  Demons do not stand up and teach doctrines.

How are these deceiving spirits going to work?  They are going to work through people trying to deceive you from believing the Word of God.  They will try to dilute the Word of God.  Many of these deceiving spirits are working in men who stand in the pulpit today.  They water down the Word of God by saying, God does not mean that.  That is a deceiving spirit.  The Bible says to separate yourself from those who deny the power of God and have only a form of godliness.

Who is it that denies the power of God?  Speaking in tongues, diving healing and casting out demons show the power of God.  The Bible does not say to stick with these kind of people and win them to the Lord.  People tell me all the time that God told them to stay in their churches.  Give me a scripture for that.  The scriptures say to get out.

God will never speak to you contrary to His Word.  If you will just read the Word and believe the Word, you have your answer.  He says if they deny the power of God but have a form of godliness, to stay away from them.  (II Timothy 3:5)

Man is the one that teaches that God does not really heal anymore.  They say he put doctors here for that.  The Bible says in Matthew 8:17, …Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

James 5:14 says, Is any sick among you?  Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.  It does not say to call the doctor and get a shot, but that is what most churches teach you.

So God says He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler.  The devil will not keep you seduced and deceived into believing the doctrines of devils.  Anything that waters down the Gospel did not come from Jesus Christ.  Anything that denies the blood of Jesus, or Him dying on the cross is a doctrine of demons.  The doctrine of demons is simply anything that denies what the Word says.  God would never give the Word then have something else come along to deny it.  Not believing in speaking in tongues is an example of doctrines of devils.  You may be sitting under some of that.

Believing that God has lost His power and that He put man here to heal is
doctrine of devils.  The Word does not say that.  The Word says that He sent His Word and healed them.

Malachi 3:6 says, For I am the Lord, I change not.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  (Hebrews 13:8) He spent over a third of His ministry healing people, so how can He stop healing?

Psalms 91:3 says, snare.  What is a snare?  It is a bait or trap.  People get snared and deceived because they are hungry for God and the devil puts a little bait out there.  It may be good bait, but will have some poison in it.  If you want to catch a squirrel in a trap, you do not put rotten bait in it.  The doctrine of demons works the same way.  They put good meat out, but sprinkle a little poison on it.  They do not put a lot of poison because they do not want you to die all at once.  They want you to live long enough to get somebody else in there.  How do they kill you?  They take away the Word.  They water down and dilute the Word of God and gradually give you a little poison.  But, Praise God, He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler.  He will keep you out of it.

John 16:13 says, Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak:  and He will shew you things to come.  The Holy Spirit is your teacher.  He will lead you and guide you into all truth.  Confess this scripture daily, and you will be delivered from the snare of the fowler.  Do not depend upon your intellectual ability and your Bible knowledge to stay free and clear.  Knowledge plus the Holy Spirit is the answer.

             2.  Psalms 91:3 is another thing He delivers us from.  It is the noisome pestilence.

These are things that doctors and drugs cannot cure.  He can deliver us from things that they cannot cure.  His power goes beyond what they can do.

I am not ridiculing doctors.  They utilize all that they have, but it is nothing compared to God.  They will cure everything they can, that is their job and life.  They work hard at it, they are diligent, but their knowledge and equipment is small compared to the Word of God.

God says if you will meet the conditions and make the right confession, He will keep you out of Satan’s errors, mistakes and deceptions.  He will set you free from what you are in.

             3.  Psalms 91:5 is something else He will deliver you from.  The terror by night.

God says if He alone is your refuge and fortress, and in Him alone do you trust, then He will deliver you from the terror by night.  You do not have to be afraid to go out in the dark anymore.

Terror by night are the thoughts of the mind about robbers and rapists.  A lot of God’s women today are afraid of all the robbing, stealing and raping going on.  Most people have their houses bolted and locked up.

Locks are for honest folks.  If the thieves want to get into your house, they will get in.  I learned that when I first came to the Lord and was not even filled with the Holy Ghost.  I was pastoring my first church.  People would kill beef and hogs to eat and would have a lot of meat stored in their freezer.  Sometimes even while they were at church, thieves would break into their houses and steal the meat.  They would get back home from service and find all the meat gone.

I decided not to lock my freezer.  I said, If they get the meat, at least it will not ruin the freezer.  In order to get the meat in a locked freezer they would take a bar and pop up the lid which would ruin the freezer.

             Learn that God’s angels are wherever you go.  I heard someone tell this story about a woman who got hold of a scripture.  One time she was in a real dark place and a man jumped out and grabbed her.  She could not remember the scripture so she started shouting;
Feathers, Feathers, Feathers.  And he ran.  He thought she was crazy or something.  She was quoting part of Psalms 91:4, He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust…

There are a lot of stories about people like that.  Ladies, learn Psalms 91.  You do not have to be afraid.  Your husband may be working on a job that requires him to be out of town.  You do not have to be afraid.  God has promised to protect you.

This will work for your children, too.  You do not have to worry about them being mistreated at school when you have those angels on the job.  They are not going to take your daughter and abuse her.  Your angels are on guard.

             4.  Psalms 91:5 says,
He will deliver you from the arrow that flieth by day.  He will protect you from bullets, riots, wars, and attacks.  There has been a lot of that in this country in the past years.  People are locking up and are more fearful than ever before.  It is bad now in a lot of big cities, but it will be that way everywhere before it is over with.  The devil is the author of fear.  He feeds upon it.  He causes these things to make people afraid.  Why?  Because fear opens the door for more fear.

Remember when the lights went out in New York City?  People went wild.  It will not be all honey when the lights go off in your city.  You had better be believing for angels when this happens. You say, Well, I will have a gun.

And you will go to prison or live in fear the rest of your life because you shot a man.

When I was a kid I used to carry a knife with me all the time.  Where I lived, there was a lot of stabbing.  Everybody carried a knife with them.  I had seen a lot of people get cut and chopped up, so I carried a knife.  One time while I was working at a service station and going to high school, a guy who worked at the station got in an argument with me.  He took a tire tool after me.  I jumped around trying to get away from him.  Then he came right across my back with that tire tool.  I felt the meat bust.  Before I knew what happened, I had my knife out and I was going after him.  I told him to put the tire tool down and when he did I threw that knife down.  Because of that situation, I got rid of that knife.

A gun will not protect you when ten come in on you.  But, the angels can take care of you if a hundred come in on you.  The world tells you to have your gun handy.  That is fear.  That is trusting yourself to take care of yourself.  The gun will scare most of them off but the angels will keep them off.  The Bible does not say, I will trust in God and my twenty-two.

It is not God plus your double barreled shot gun.  My daddy always carried a shot gun underneath the front seat of his car.  He always wore those Mackinaw Jackets and carried crescent wrenches.  They made good weapons.  I could tell you some stories about the way I was raised.  I have carried crescent wrenches before, too, and I kept a chain under the seat.  Praise God, I have been liberated.  My dad still has that gun around.  That is fear.

What is our confession?  I will say, God alone is my fortress.  God alone is my refuge.  And in God alone do I trust.  If you have been living in fear all these years, it really takes the Word getting inside of you before you can get rid of that gun.

One time the police came and wanted to stake our house out.  I said,
I do not need you.

They kept on and on and on.  I said, We are going to services tonight.

They said, Will you just give us permission to stay?

              I said, What for?

We received word from the Baton Rouge and New Orleans area about some racketeers, they say you have a lot of diamonds and big money here and they are going to come in and get your family and kids and make you give all of it to them.

I looked at them and laughed.  I said, We have a few checks here that are not endorsed and if we have two or three hundred dollars in the house, they will do good.

It was the devil trying to cause fear.  I told him, You think I have plenty?  Well, I do but you cannot get to it.  It is not in some bank vault.  It is stored and treasured in heaven.

The devil has tried to kill us many times.  He would have gotten my wife, and my kids, but God’s angels take care of us.  He protects us from the arrow that flieth by day.  It is going to get worse.  Get ready.

             5.  Psalms 91:6 says, destruction at noonday.  Tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, or earthquakes.  People worry about hurricanes in Louisiana.

They say, Oh, but Brother Willis, we cannot do anything about that.  What does the Word say?  If you do not believe, it will get your house.  Do you think your house could be destroyed with one of God’s angels bending over it?  Do you think the devil could tear down your house with God’s wing wrapped around it?  It would be like moving the universe.

God has a tremendous protection plan for you.  It is not something that man can offer.  It so supercedes what man has to offer that they reject it totally because it sounds ridiculous to them.  They cannot offer anything that comes anywhere near it, so they have to ridicule what God offers.  That way, they can sell you their old cheap plan.

Psalms 91:1-6 says, He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (2) I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.  (3) Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.  (4) He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.  (5) Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; (6) Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

Learn how to trust God to take care of you and yours.  The center of the storm is the
eye.  That is where it is calm.  That is symbolic of the Word of God.  When troubles and problems come your way, you can be right in the center of it trusting God.

Chapter IV
Reward Enjoyed by Those who Trust God

             1.  Psalms 91:4 says, His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

His shield and buckler is His armor.  His truth or His Word shall be your armor.  An armor covers you from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet.  This is one reward you will enjoy.  The words shall be mean it is mandatory.  His truths are an armor to you as you believe them and walk in them.

             2.  Psalms 91:5 says, Thou shalt not be afraid.  Only God can offer you something like that.  He did not say that evil would not come.  It will be coming, but He says you will not be afraid.  That is total trust, and the total blessing of it.

II Timothy 1:7 says, God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, of love and a sound mind.  You shall not be afraid.

When the prices of gas and food started jumping, there was much fearful talk going on.  I sometimes wondered if maybe something was wrong with me.  I could not have cared less.  There is no inflation with God, therefore, I was not afraid.

The world lives in fear.  A lot of you who are getting up in years, are fearful of how you are going to make it.  God loves you, He will take care of you.  He will have some neighbor just fall in love with you, and they will love you more than their own Mom and Dad.  He may just make one of your sons or daughters get rich so that they will have plenty to give you.  You will do better than you ever have.  You do not have to have fear about tomorrow.

His Word says, Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night.  You will not be afraid of the plagues that come and go, the cancers, polios, or flues.  There will be no fear of earthquakes, riots, stray bullets, robbers, thieves, or rapists.  He said,
If you will trust in Me and Me alone, you do not have to be afraid of that.  Because you are abiding under my shadow.  You are trusting in Me.

             3.  Psalms 91:5-8 says, Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; (6) Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.  (7) A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.  (8) Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

A thousand shall go down with the plages.  A thousand shall get shot, robbed, and raped.  A thousand shall have their property destroyed and tornadoes and hurricanes.  People all around you will be sick, fearful and impoverished.  It’s that way right now.  What is going to happen to you?  It shall not come nigh thee.  Only with thine eyes shall thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.  That is their reward, they are not serving God.  That is why you must live for God so that you can get them out of that junk.

Can you imagine God giving you a policy like this?  That is what Psalm 91 is.  Can man offer you anything like that?

             4.  Psalms 91:8 says your eyes shall behold and see the reward of the wicked.

God is faithful to protect His.  When God protects His, others are left unprotected.  Those who do not believe God’s Word are left to Satan’s hands.

             5.  Psalms 91:15 says, I will answer him.  It does not say that you shall call upon Him and He shall be asleep.  He says He will answer you, that is another reward for those who trust God.

             6.  Psalms 91:15 also says, I will be with him in trouble.  Isaiah 43:1-3 says that when you pass through the rivers, waters, and fires that He will be with you, for He is the Lord your God.  He shall not leave you or forsake you.  This is another of His rewards.

             7.  Psalms 91:15 also says He will honor him.  He says He will make him known who he trusts in.  If you trust in God, He will honor you.  He will protect you and take care of you.  He will make it known and people will know who you are trusting in.

We do not have a big advertising program going out from the Charismatic Teaching Center, but a lot of people know about us.  The reason is because we proclaim the Word of God, God’s Word is true.  He is not a man that He can lie.  He has not lost any of His power and strength, He has not changed and never will.  God says He will honor us.  He says that He will bless us coming in and going out.  He says He makes us the head, not the tail.  He says that we will lend and not borrow.  He says that we are His seed.

             8.  Psalms 91:16 says, With long life will I satisfy him.  A long life without fear is satisfying.
           9.  Psalms 91:16 also says He will Shew him My salvation.

Salvation refers to all that Jesus is.  He says that He will keep revealing to you more and more and more about Jesus.

These are rewards enjoyed by those who trust in God.  Those who do not trust God and see you blessed will get jealous.

I visited my home town recently and met one of my friends that I went to school with.  We used to be very close.  We played football, basketball, track and everything together.  I saw him come out of the place where he was working, and pulled over to talk to him.  The first thing he said was, Well, they are investigating Billy Graham, are they investigating you?

God’s truth shall be your shield and buckler.  It will surround you.  You shall not be afraid.  God will be your refuge and fortress and in Him alone will you trust.  You do not get there over-night, but by being diligent in the Word of God.

I told you that I had learned something while flying an airplane.  The first cross-country trip I took, I ended up in a hail storm.  I had only an hour and a half of flying by instruments and here I was stuck in a hail storm.  I had a bunch of books that I had not read and that very day before we left I picked up one of those books and read a little section where it told what to do if you hit a hail storm.  So when the hail storm hit I did what it told me to do.  I pulled my speed, nosed it up a little bit and just settled down and started speaking in tongues.  It lasted about 30 minutes, and I was not afraid.  There is nothing like living without fear.  I was taught all my life to be fearful, but God took it away.

God also said He would answer your prayers.  Why?  Because you are trusting in Him.  The reason God does not answer a lot of prayers is because you are not trusting in God alone.  That is one of the conditions you have to meet.  Trust God alone.

To trust just God is one of the most frightening things to a lot of people.  When you hear this kind of truth, you have to either believe it and act upon it, or reject it.  If you reject it, then you have to brand me as a heretic.  If I am telling the truth and the Bible is right, then you are going to have to do it.  If you have heard the Word, you are accountable for it.

He says He will honor you with a long life.  The reason people are not getting a long life is because they are not trusting God alone.  God has promised every believer a long life if he will trust in Him alone.  But, most Christians do not live longer than the heathens.  Most church people have as many or more problems as the heathen, the lost man.  Yet, they have all the promises of God.

             Confess this:
In the Name of Jesus I confess that Psalms 91 is as much a part of the Bible as any other chapter.  The same God that spoke it, spoke it all.  He never lied.  Everything He said is true.  I confess that God alone is my Savior.  God alone is my Refuge.  God alone is my Fortress.  In God alone do I trust.  I know in my heart that God’s Word is true.  Father, in Jesus’ Name, I ask You to help me to burn the bridges behind me so that I can do Your Word.  I know in my heart that it is true.  I believe You are going to help me so that my mind can make my body do what my heart says, not what my mind says.  My heart tells me that everything God says is true, therefore I believe God’s plan for total protection is true, and my family is going to begin today to trust God as our Total Protector.
